First we came out with the Gun Metal Gray clasps to replace the black epoxy coated clasps,  and now we have a new high strength material for 6 MM clasp called N40 Neodyminium.  That is why we feel we are the leader in magnetic clasps for magnetic jewelry.

Below are the clasps we generally have in stock.  They are made of neodyminium and are the highest strength (3000 gauss) magnets available anywhere.  These magnetic clasps are generally used with magnetic hematite beads, or magnetite, beads that average 800 gauss.  While being the strongest magnetic material available, neodyminium is very corrosive and must be protected with a coating such as nickel or epoxy to prevent corrosion.  Unlike the black magnetite beads, the epoxy or nickel coating will wear off with time and the clasps will need to be replaced.

OUR APOLOGIES if you have been watching the price increases in the cost of gasoline, inflation is also affecting Rare Earth Minerals like Neodyminium and you will notice a increase in the cost of clasps.  We are sorry, but we have to raise the cost of our clasps to meet these cost increases

We employ 4 types of coatings.  Nickel (center) is like a chrome plate and is very durable, however some people have a reaction to nickel and break out in a rash.  Second is a black epoxy coating which is being discontinued in favor of Gun Metal Gray because the epoxy coating is not as durable as Gun Metal Gray coatings.  Third is a new coating called Gun Metal Nickel (2nd from left) that has become the most popular coating.  It provides the dark color to go with the black beads and is less likely to corrode than epoxy coating.  The gun metal clasps are a dark gray color and and are still a nickel coating.  Fourth are a new gold plated clasps (right) which we just began offering.  All of these clasps historically have been made of N35 Grade Neodyminium.  We now offer a High Strength Gun Metal Gray 6 MM clasp made from N40 Grade Neodyminium that is about 25% stronger than the N35 Grade

 

Single Magnetic clasps basically come in 2 sizes, the small 6 MM or stronger 8 MM.  For necklaces and light weight bracelets we recommend the 6 MM High Strength clasps.  For anklets and heavier bracelets, we recommend the 8 MM clasps.  It is also a good idea to display bracelets with both 6 MM and 8 MM and let the customers chose between the two.  If you charge $5 more for the 8 MM clasp bracelets, you will be surprised to see most people will pay more for the stronger clasps

For double and triple string bracelets, we provide double and triple hole square clasps.  The double are available in Gun Metal Gray nickel coating.  The triple clasps are also available in gun metal nickel coating

6x6x12 MM Double Epoxy Coated Clasp

The magnetic clasps sold on this page work best with 80 lb monofilament line by burning the end with a cigarette lighter to create a ball that will lock in the clasp.  Smaller monofilament can be used, but the melted ball will not seat in the clasp as well and will fail sooner.  Other beading cords and wires can be use by knotting the end of the cord, but we find this more difficult to work with and not as reliable.  We encourage you to view our instruction diagrams on installing magnetic clasps

Clasps are are sold in groups of 5 pairs and can be purchased online.  Most orders are shipped the same day ordered if the order is received before the post office closes.  All orders are shipped First Class Mail or Priority Mail depending upon the weight.
